TV App Bundle App Technical Requirements & Terms of Service

Technical Requirements

Information required for TV Apps.

  • App Title – This is the title of the App as it appears on the Roku platform.
  • App description (short) – A brief description for your app, this appears on the App stores.
  • App description (long) – A longer description for your app, this appears on the App stores.
  • Keywords – A list of keywords to identify your app in user searches.
  • Contact email address – Your contact email address. Note that this may be visible in the Skill stores. If you do not wish to display a public email address, use ours (info@autopo.st).

Images required for TV Apps App.

We require various high quality logos from you, we will derive all the other logos required from these two. Please ensure they are of the highest quality to avoid Roku rejecting the App.
  • Channel Store Icon must be 540×405 pixels in size (square) and PNG format. This image will be used inside the App as the channel logo.
  • Background Store logo Splashscreen must be 1920×1080 pixels (wxh) in size and PNG format. This image will be used as the App background image and the App Splashscreen (appers on app load).
  • Channel logo (in-screen) must be 1500x634 pixels (wxh) in size and PNG format. This image is used as the in-screen station logo.
  • 4640x1440 Image - Must be 4640x1440 pixels in size (wxh) with a solid background colour.
  • 3840x2160 Image - Must be 3840x2160 pixels in size (wxh) with a solid background colour
  • 3840x1440 Image - Must be 3840x1440 pixels in size (wxh) with a solid background colour
  • 2560x1536 Image- Must be 2560x1536 pixels in size (wxh) with a solid background colour

Additional information required

  • Live stream information.
  • Streams may be in MP3 or AAC+ formats and available 24/7. For MP3 we recommend a minimum of 128kbps, for AAC+ a minimum of 64kbps. Note that Roku may remove channels that fail to broadcast reliably.

Adverts

  • Advert images must be 600x600 pixels in size, .JPG or .PNG format and will be uploaded via the dashboard (if you wish to serve adverts).

Ticker

  • You may update the ticker via the control panel in real time. If you do not wish to make use of the ticker, simply leave the ticker field blank.

Image / Cover art

  • The reliability of displaying artist images / cover art relies on the metadata you provide. You should ensure that all metadata (IDv3 tags) display the correct data (Artist - Song Title).
Apple Developer account details. You must have an Apple Developer account for us to be able to publish your Apple TV app.

Terms and Conditions of Service

  • There will be no setup charge for design, development, publishing (except re-publishing) or hosting costs. All of these costs are included in the currently displayed monthly charges for the 'TV App Bundle' service.
  • The minimum term contract is 3 months. You will be charged on a monthly basis at the advertised rate, but there is a minimum three month contract term.
  • Audio stream, On-screen logo, slogan and ticker text may be updated at any time via our control panel.
  • Direct links to your apps will be provided to the customer once the Apps are live in the relevant app stores.
  • App will be provided as per the demo App shown on the product screen. Custom design work is not currently supported. Logos will be supplied by the customer as part of the setup process.
  • The customer will provide the necessary information requested in a timely manner, information includes mandatory images and information to be submitted to the relevant app stores. Failure to supply this information in a timely manner will lead to delays in publishing the Apps to the App stores.
  • Your radio stations stream must be online during testing and app review. If your streaming server experiences downtime during this time (from information submission through to app review by the relevant stores), this will delay the build, test and review process.
  • Please note the following likely lead times for each platform to review and make live your TV Apps:
    • Apple are likely to take up to 5 working days to review and publish your app.
    • Roku are likely to take up to 5 working days to review and publish your app.
    • Fire TV (Amazon) are likely to take up to 3 working days to review and publish your app.
    • Android TV (Google) are likely to take up to 7 working days to review and publish your app.
    • autopo.st cannot influence the time it takes for the app stores to review and publish the apps.
  • Source code or app builds will not be released at any stage.
  • Apple TV App must be published under your own Apple Developer Account, please see here for more details.
  • Apps are published, hosted and maintained by autopo.st while the monthly subscription is active. If a monthly subscription is cancelled, the Apps may be unpublished at any time at the end of the billing period. Republishing costs (if you cancel your subscription) are £19.95 (or $24.95 or €22.95).
  • App name, App logos and links cannot be updated once the Apps have been submitted without incurring a charge. Changes are charged at a rate of £19.95 (or $24.95 or €22.95) per app.
  • autopo.st will ensure that sufficient precautions are taken to ensure platform availability to support the Apps usage for its customers and will provide service credits for any downtime of its own platform (this does not include third party outages). Credits will never exceed the monthly equivalent of the service paid.
  • autopo.st will publish Apps to the relevant stores within 72 hours (3 working days) of receiving the order. We are not responsible for the length of time each app store takes to review and make the apps live.
  • autopo.st will provide a refund if the App is not successfully published to the App Stores ONLY if it is due to an issue with the functionality of the Apps themselves. This does NOT include issues with customers websites, content, missing or incomplete information submitted which could lead to the Apps being rejected (including any documentation that may be required, specifically around the payment of royalties which may be required by Apple). autopo.st will not publish Apps until all information and details requested above are submitted in their entirety.
  • Please note! You must have your own Apple Developer account for us to be able to submit your app to the tvOS Apple platform. More details here. If you do not have (or cannot provide an Apple Developer account, we will be unable to publish your Apple TV App. No refunds are given on the bundle deal if you do not have an Apple Developer account or cannot supply one).
